How Implications for early childhood Educators

Teachers play a key role in modeling, developing and couraging dispositions in young children:

*Children need to have the real life experiens in the early years learning where their experience and learning leads to in-depth understanding, childrens learning in the early years must provide many opportuniyies,to seek,to find out ,to investigate ,to analyze and to conclude.children when given these opportunities are capable of developing these intellectual dispositions.

*Children should be motivated toward mastery rather than performance with having a good sence of achievement. The early years of learning are and important period of development. The early years are very important for development of positive dispositions towards learning as described by Bruner(1996),Katz(1987).

*Children gain knowledge and skiils in the early years.Childrens are born with the natural dispositions of curiosity to observe ,seek, know, find out, search, investigate, try, problem solve.

*Lets not forget that we as adults too have the same needs as far as learning is concerned. We must remember if we want our childrens mind to thrive.the child needs to be loved, held, talked to,read to and allowed to explore. We as theacher needs to develop the positive dispositions too and model for our children those disposition we would like our children to have.

*With an understanding of what children need to be successful learners, theachers can set the stage for learning,This knowledge of needs compels those involved in the education of children, and future teachers alike to advocate for broadening the goals of desired outcomes

Why Children’s Dispositions Should Matter to All Teachers

According to professor Lilian Katz, Disposition are in fact, “habits of mind” and cannot be learnt from plain instructions. Early childhood teachers should guide young children’s learning in ways that support their development. Traditionally, foremost in teacher’s minds is what knowledge and skills children should acquire. Today, however, teachers must become aware of the pivotal role of disposition in the education of children. This session examines types of dispositions, their link to children’s effective learning, and classroom practices and environments that support them. We want to emphasize that dispositions and learning experiences are equally important and that teachers can encourage dispositions. Teacher education must model and support the development of desirable dispositions and provide opportunities to weaken or eliminate undesirable positions. Effective early childhood teachers consider weather their behaviors empower or undermine children’s dispositions, then alter their practices accordingly. We have the power to open up the world for children and their families. Let’s not miss opportunities to reframe children’s behaviors into positive dispositions.

HOW TO ENJOY BOOKS WITH YOUR CHILD

Your newborn

Nursery rhyme fun.

Your baby will love listening to your voice,so sing her or recite nursery rhymes to her in a sing-song style.

Try these tips:

*Rock your baby rhythmically to the words.

*Look through a nursery rhyme collection for new ideas or to remember old favorites.

*Don’t be shy-use silly voice and animal sound effects where appropriate

*Sing your baby a shooting lullaby when you put her down for a nap.

YOUR YOUNG BABY

Your young baby and books.

Choose board books, cloth books or bath books with big, clear illustrations of familiar objects that you can talk about and point at,Place the books in her hand to encourage her to touch and grasp it-and to taste it,too,in her eyes it’s a toy to be explored and played with like any other. She’ll love bright colours and bold outlines,so take time to linger over each picture.

Four get reasons to share books with your baby:

*Sharing a books is agreat way to spend time together ,cuddled up close.

*Books help you to talk to your baby in a lively way about lots of things.

*Your baby will come to recognize books as something she enjoys.

*You’ll be encouraging her early language development.

YOUR OLDER BABY

He’s now able to reach out and grasp whatever is held in front of him, and by around 8 months he can sit up and swivel round to pick up toys close by. His body’s building strength and he’ll soon be crawling-though he might move backwards until he really gets the hang og it! He’ll Want to touch and explore everything, so while it’s great to let him satisfy his curiosity, you will need to take extra care over home safety. By 10 months he may stand-with a helping hand-and he might even have taken a first tentative step by 12 months.
